A seasoned public figure, Chandrakant Patil is a politician who aims to take the masses ahead with him. Born to a Maharashtrian family on 10th June 1959, he grew up in a small neighbourhood in Mumbai. His inclination to serve the nation began early at the age of 18 and his passion drove him to rise from a mill workers son to a driving force behind the upliftment of the state. Fondly known as Chandrakant Dada, his people-friendly mannerisms earned him a great reputation among the masses. With a resolve to serve people selflessly, his thought leadership and excellent intellectual analysis have been the guiding force behind bettering the lives of farmers as well as the development of rural Maharashtra.
He has been actively involved in Politics since 2004 and is a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2004, he was the General Secretary of the Maharashtra Unit. In 2008, he was elected as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from the Pune graduates constituency and later went on to win his second term in 2014, where he was raised to the post of a Vice President. He has been the Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra since 2014 and was heading the ‘Co-operation, Marketing, Textile and Public Works’ department. Since July 2016, he has been responsible for the ‘Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, and Public Works’ (excluding Public Undertakings) department. On July 29, he was appointed as the President of the Maharashtra BJP.

As a Cabinet Minister, he has always placed emphasized on quick decision-making and effective implementation of processes. He believes in giving utmost priority to the public interest and inculcates transparency in all his endeavours. He has the vision to better the state’s infrastructure, improve the lives of farmers, make the state more environment-friendly, contribute to the digital economy of the state, create more employment opportunities in the tourism sector and empower villages. His list of achievements includes declaring pension schemes for journalists, contributing to the ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ initiative dedicated to martyrs and appealing for the loan waiver scheme to benefit farmers.
